The Netherlands Helsinki Committee (NHC), in cooperation with EuroPris, the EPTA Network, the Confederation for European Probation (CEP) and the European Forum for Restorative Justice (EFRJ), is organizing a Criminal Justice Crossover Training for professionals from the prison probation and restorative justice fields. The aim of the training is to explore how cooperation between these three fields can be facilitated and strengthened already during the training stage of criminal justice professionals’ careers.

During the training, participants from all three sectors are invited to exchange knowledge and expertise on the following main questions:

1. What are current themes and challenges that require (increased) bilateral or trilateral collaboration? And (how) could joint training programmes contribute to this cooperation?
2. What are vital skills across sectors? What do the professions have in common and would joint training programmes make sense in strengthening these skills?
3. What can we learn from each other in terms of training methodologies?
4. How can shared trainings increase the professional mobility between the three sectors, and the interoperability between these sectors?

Participants in the training will be expected to actively participate in workshops and group discussions. In addition, participants will be invited to think about possible pathways for development for their own organization and broader criminal justice system back home.

There are 10 places available for CEP members. If you are interested, please send an email to anna@cep-probation.org, containing: your name, position, organisation, country and in short (2 sentences) why it would be useful to attend this training. CEP will choose participants. The call is open until Friday 2nd February.

This training is co-funded by the European Union Justice Programme. In order to be admitted to this training, participants must:

• CEP member;
• Have good command of the English language, considering the interactive nature of the training.

Travel and subsistence costs

For the elected participants costs will be reimbursed by NHC in the following way:

Travel: Participants are expected to book their own travel from their home country to the hotel in The Hague and back. Travel costs will be reimbursed after attending the training and having provided the necessary supporting documents. For travel costs, a maximum amount of €400,- per eligible participant will be covered. This budget includes flight/train tickets (only economy/second class), travel to and from the airport/train station and travel insurance. More information about the reimbursement procedure will be shared before the training.

Accommodation: The host NHC will arrange accommodation for all participants from 6 to 9 March and the costs for accommodation will be covered directly by the project (so no payment by participants necessary).  Lunch during training days will be provided by the host.
