The final webinar of 2024, focused on the topic of assessment, was held on Thursday, November 21.
The session was led by Secretary General Jana Spero Kamenjarin and emphasized the critical role of assessment in probation work. Guest speaker Mr. Gio Namchevadze, representing Georgia’s National Agency for Crime Prevention, Execution of Non-Custodial Sentences, and Probation, underscored that while RNA tools are valuable, they cannot substitute the expertise of probation specialists, who are essential for ensuring the accuracy and quality of assessments.

Parole Futures

At a time when many parole systems are experiencing considerable strain, the aims of this collection are twofold: first, to encourage systematic and critical reflection on the rationalities, institutions and practices of parole. Offering novel insights from Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America, this collection builds the case for, and then showcases, a ‘way of doing’ parole research that is global in outlook, interdisciplinary in approach and unapologetically normative in character.
